ABOUT
“Why can’t we all just get along?” Becca has spent her life scraping the sugar coating off that Pollyanna question. Why can’t love stay passionate and nurturing in relationships? What are the obstacles to people collaborating successfully in community? Why do we participate in economic systems that damage the environment?
Her life mission has not only sought the answers to those questions in our history and mythologies, but Becca has tried out practical strategies for living in harmony, within and without. Through her writings and activism, she shares what she is learning. Becca left her home in the American Midwest as an exchange student to Greece, where she would gaze at the night sky and imagine the mythic stories of the gods and goddesses. Intrigued by different cultural interpretations of reality, she has lived in Canada, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Guatemala, Brasil, Ecuador, Spain, Greece, Italy, and India, and has traveled in 40 countries. She has a BS in International Studies and BA in Spanish. Concerned for her infant son’s future, she worked as an environmental activist in the Caribbean for 10 years. There she also taught Earth Science to children in a beachside thatch hut, and was administrator of a CSA project (Community Supported Agriculture). She has worked as a doula, accompanying laboring women on 3 continents. Becca’s spiritual practices include yoga, tai chi, meditation, Tantra, and facilitating ritual. She has founded women’s circles and community trance dances. An accomplished workshop leader, she has taught Transformational Breathwork, meditation, community skills, and many spiritual topics. Her collaboration with her partner JG Bertrand has produced a masterwork of Tantric art and poetry, a Tantric oracle deck, and memoir, called Venus and Her Lover. Their 17-year Tantric devotion resulted in them becoming so well versed in archetypal psychology, history, sexuality, and mythology, that they have been sought out as relationship counselors. Becca and James live a green valley in the Andes Mountains, from which they promote their messages of sustainable relationship. Young son grew up, graduated from college, and now pursues a shamanic path. |
