Groups, by necessity, must function under an ethos of self-responsibility if they are to be sustainable. Groups require the courage and willingness to see beyond where we have looked within ourselves thus far and to venture into unknown territory in the presence of others. It is a heroic journey we undertake. It requires strength of will, discernment, and vigilance that become the keys to our success. Although much of ourselves is still in Shadow, by agreeing to own our thoughts, words, feelings, and behaviors, we set the stage for a truly growth-ful experience for all.
We all get triggered, lost, and confused at times. This is the material that surfaces so that we can rediscover un-owned aspects of ourselves and understand what is going on with us. It is a natural occurrence. In order to be effective, we need to accept responsibility for our reactivity, our victimhood, our “lostness”, and the whole of our psychological structure. This attitude allows entranceway into discovering the root cause of any issue. Mentors intend to help facilitate this process when it occurs. However, without some basic agreement as a foundation, these situations almost always deteriorate. With the intention to make our group time together beneficial for all, we ask you to consider and then agree to the following:
